I am happy I have nothing much to fear.
Festivals gone by, year after year
no difference it made, I quietly hid a tear.
Festival of light that brightens every face,
sweets, crackers in every home and place.
It shook me a little, to see purchases made new
I tried to make best of what I had few.
Friends & families invited me to play
I made an excuse as I had nothing to say.
I only watched from a distance, on my favorite day
and I hoped it would mean "Diwali" at least someday.
I experienced life become a roller-coaster ride,
I secretly longed, things fall on a favorable side.
Just as I thought this would be the last storm,
challenges crept in some or the other form.
I gathered courage to sail myself through,
I not only won but learned a lot too.
So believe in yourself when you’re feeling down,
and what you seek will just come around.
After many many years, here I am today
living the lost festivity as you may say.
Crackers, sweets and loved ones surround
and I wear a SMILE that knows no bound...
My very first poem ever !! :)
